Sage City News- Eva Montoya
Today, June 6, 2011, was our first full day her at Girls State. We got up, went to breakfast and then we went to watch the raising of the flag. Most of our city enjoyed this and most had never seen it done before. We then went to general assembly and one group at a time went to sign up for our college credit. We all were all so grateful; I mean that is three credit hours that we now have. Although there was some malfunctions with the voting polls, the process was smooth inside the polls. Our city felt that it was a little disorganized but in the end it ran smoothly. Most of our girls really enjoyed the poppy story. Putting the poppies on the wreath was like a group banding experience for all of state. Towards the end of the day, we had to go around and other counties and cities to sign our petitions. We felt that we finally had interaction with other girls. Overall, our second day of Girls State was a good one. We are all really excited to see what else Girls State has in store for us.
